Redbridge Mayor
Our new Mayor
is Councillor Chris Cummins, who was elected on the 12 May
2011.
It is a great honour to be chosen as Mayor for
the London Borough of Redbridge and, although I thought there may
have been an opportunity to become Mayor in the years ahead, I was
surprised that it happened so soon.
The role of Mayor is a way of keeping in touch
with the community and is a way of
recognising
the work that volunteers and carers do. We can all play an
important role in recognising and fostering the 'Big Society'
and I want to help bring different sections of the community
together and to encourage everyone working together in a spirit of
harmony.
Redbridge is a wonderful Borough and a very pleasant place to
live. I look forward to seeing much more of the Borough I have
lived in my whole life and meeting the people who work, live and
play within it.
I shall be supported during the year by my Mayoress 'Mrs Helen
Johnson' and my Deputy Mayor, 'Councillor Felicity Banks'.
The Mayor's Appeal Committee will be working to raise funds
for:
I look
forward to working closely with them to support these two worthy
causes.
I hope you will also
enjoy reading about my mayoral year through my blog.
