Councillors are your local elected representatives 

They are usually members of a political party, though some may choose not to belong to any party and are called independents.  A picture of the Council Chamber

Councillors are responsible for making decisions on behalf of the community about:

  • local services, like rubbish collection and leisure facilities
  • agreeing budgets and council tax charges.

The borough is divided into 21 wards each with two or three elected representatives bringing the total number of councillors to 63. 

Redbridge Council is made up of:

  • Conservatives hold 30 seats
  • Labour Party hold 25 seats
  • Liberal Democrat Party hold 7 seats
  • One Independent Member
