The Council's Budget
Welcome to the Redbridge i 2012/13 budget pages
Budget saving proposals 2012/13 which have changed or been
withdrawn following feedback from residents:
- To increase the agreed subsidy to Glasbury House so that the
savings the Centre would need to find over the next three years are
more manageable. The removal of the 100% subsidy by the
Council to the Centre in the timescale previously suggested would
have resulted in its closure.
- The proposal to reduce the scheduled green garden waste
service from weekly to fortnightly has been withdrawn.
- To help Redbridge Drama Centre manage the savings it has to
make, the Council has agreed to spread them over a period of three
years rather than two until 2014/15.
- To help Redbridge Music Service manage the savings it has to
make, the Council has agreed to spread them over a period of three
years rather than two until 2014/15.
- The option to reduce the age at which young people can receive
special educational needs transport from 25 years to 21 years has
now been withdrawn.
These pages are here to make it easier for you to find out more
about the process that the Council will go through to set its
budget and to give you an insight on the savings that may be
made.
The Council needs to save approximately £10m from its budget in
2012/13 – £6m of that was identified last year but the other £4m
needs to be found in new savings through the 2012/13 budget.
Below are some of the proposed savings the Council may make in each
of its service areas to achieve that figure. The proposals are now
out to public consultation before the Council sets its budget on 1
March 2012. The Budget contains savings and new or additional
expenditure.
These are the Cabinet's budget proposals for 2012/13
and the Council's budget was set at the Full Council
meeting on Thursday 1 March 2012.
Responses to the Redbridge Consultation up to 29 February 2012
were submitted to Council before setting the Budget on 1 March
2012. YouChoose is still
open and you can still have your say about the Council’s saving
options and suggest ways to save money. Any views received after
the Council set its Budget will be considered at a later time
as part of the Council’s ongoing programme of reducing costs.
