Proposals for Constituency Boundary Changes
The Boundary Commission for England invites residents to
take part in consultation on proposed changes to parliamentary
constituency boundaries across England.
It is currently proposed that the number of parliamentary
constituencies in London is decreased from 73 to 68. Constituencies
in most London Boroughs, including Redbridge, will be affected.
However the changes do not affect the election of Councillors in
Council wards or the boundaries of the London Borough of
Redbridge.
Our current constituencies are Ilford North, Ilford South,
Chingford & Woodford Green and Leyton &
Wanstead. Proposed changes would mean that:
- Ilford South constituency is abolished, with Chadwell, Newbury
and Seven Kings wards moving to the Ilford North
constituency. Clementswood and Loxford wards would
become part of a new East Ham constituency, while Mayfield and
Goodmayes would become part of Barking and Dagenham.
- A new Wanstead and Woodford constituency is created,
incorporating wards from Leyton and Wanstead and Chingford and
Woodford Green constituencies. Wanstead and Woodford would
also inherit Cranbrook and Valentines wards from Ilford South and
Clayhall from Ilford North.
Have Your Say on these proposed changes before 5 December
2011.
