Using the forums
Please note: The terms and conditions of the
Redbridge i forums have been recently updated. See below for the
latest information.
Redbridge i forums are a great way to find out about
Redbridge news, create forum discussion topics that matter to
you and get involved in other topics.
To contribute to the forums you will first need to register with
Redbridge i. You can still view the forums without registering.
There are two types of forum on the site:
1. Redbridge i borough forums
These forums have been split into themed areas and the
topics have been set by the moderators.
These themes will reflect the issues that the council
wants to engage residents in.
Users may participate in discussions and contribute to the
online debates, and can also set topics and discussion
threads.
The Redbridge i borough forums are post moderated
which means that:
Post moderation means that posts submitted to the forums will be
published immediately they are posted. All posts will be
checked by a forum moderator after they are posted to make sure
they meet our terms of use.
Forums posts that break the terms and conditions will be removed
and the registered user informed. Users who repeatedly break the
terms of conditions of use will be banned.

2. Neighbourhood Matters forums
Aim to meet user demand for real time publication of discussions
and are designed to reflect the fact that some of the most popular
discussions tend to have a very local focus. In these forums
users may set their own topics and threads, hold
discussions and post their own content, creating an on-line
community. Please take a look at our Terms of
Use before using the forums. For more information about
this forum see our FAQs

Formatting messages for the forum.
The following techniques apply only to the Borough wide
forums.
Regular text can be typed and edited using normal text editing
techniques. The forum editor also uses something called
BBCode which is a special implementation of HTML.
BBCode itself is similar in style to HTML, tags are enclosed in
square brackets [ and ] rather than < and > and it offers
greater control over what and how something is displayed. If you
would like to know more about BBCode have a look at this entry on
Wikipedia
Using HTML
It is not possible to post HTML on these forums and have it
rendered as HTML. Most formatting which can be carried out
using HTML can also be applied using BBCode instead.
Smilies
Smilies, or Emoticons are small graphical images which can be
used to express some feeling using a short code, e.g. :) means
happy, :( means sad. The full list of emoticons can be seen via the
posting form. Try not to overuse smilies though, they can
quickly render a post unreadable and a moderator may decide to edit
them out or remove the post altogether. The forum
moderator may also have set a limit to the number of such
smilies you may use within a post.
Posting images
Images can be shown in your posts. To do so you must link
to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g.
http://www.example.com/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to
pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible
server) nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g.
hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To
display the image use the BBCode [img] tag.
Replying to a message
When reading a topic thread you may wish to send a response of
your own. To do so, click the reply button "reply", enter your message and click the Post
button.
Editing or deleting a post
Only the forum moderator may edit or delete posts.
The Council reserves the right to remove inappropriate or
offensive messages. If you feel there is a post that is
offensive or inappropriate in any way, please report it by
contacting the forum moderator
Announcements
Announcements often contain important information for the forum
you are currently reading and you should read them as soon as
possible.

quite important so you should read them where
possible.

moderator. You cannot reply to locked topics and any poll it
contained is automatically ended. Topics may be locked for
many reasons.

You can search the forums by entering a search term in the
