1. The forum is post-moderated! What does that mean?

Post moderation means that posts submitted to the forum will be published immediately 24/7 and will be checked by a forum moderator only after it appears on the forum.

2. I wish to report a post as I think it breaches Terms and
    Conditions!

The Council reserves the right to remove inappropriate or offensive messages. If you feel there is a post that is offensive or inappropriate in any way, please report it to the Redimanager . Please contact the moderator by email. We will endeavour to respond regarding posts that may break T&Cs as quickly as possible, however this may take up to 10 working days if further advice is needed.

3. What type of topics can I discuss with other users in my neighbourhood?

Neighbourhood Matters has been developed to allow users to create topic threads about any manner of issues like:

  • local problems
  • share your knowledge of local information
  • feedback on services you have received
  • issues related to the area that you live, that you'd like to discuss with others

Some of the above are just guidance/suggestions of what Neighbourhood Matters should be used for.

4. How will I know when my post appears on the forum?

Please keep checking the forum regularly to see when your post appears.

5. My post has appeared on the forum but parts of it has been either edited or deleted, why?

We want to keep discussion as open and flowing as possible. If a part of the post breaches the Terms and Conditions the moderator may edit the post. The website also runs a filter which screens out commonly used obscene/offensive language.  Such language will be automatically removed from messages posted to the site.

6. My post has appeared on the forum however I would like to edit or delete it.

If this is the case, please contact the Redimanager by PM as only the forum moderator my edit or delete published posts.

7. Where’s my message gone? It was up on the forum yesterday!

The thread in which you posted to may have been moved under to a new topic/forum where it was deemed more appropriate. It may also have been deleted due to a breach to the terms and conditions that was not detected before, or a complaint by another forum member.

8. Can I post questions to the Council on the forum?

Please note that the discussion forums should not be used as an alternative to established channels of communication between the council and residents.  Any matters requiring urgent attention should be raised with the appropriate service area direct. Posts requesting information from the Council will be passed on to the relevant department for an answer (which could take up to 10 working days). Some questions may be treated as a Freedom Of Information request (I) it will be sent to the FOI Co-ordinator who will let you know how the question is being handled.
