By using or accessing any part of the Council’s website you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

  • By using Redbridge i you agree to be legally bound by these terms, which shall take effect immediately on your first use of Redbridge i. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all the following terms please do not access and/or use Redbridge i.
  • The Council may change these terms at any time by posting changes online. Please review these terms regularly to ensure you are aware of any changes made by the Council. Your continued use of Redbridge i after changes are posted means you agree to be legally bound by these terms as updated and/or amended.
  • If any of the following terms and conditions is illegal, invalid or unenforceable this will not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining terms and conditions.
  • The relationship between you and the London Borough of Redbridge will be governed by English law. You agree to submit all disputes to the jurisdiction of the English courts.

We ask that users act responsibly when posing a question or answer. This area of the site will be checked regularly to ensure that posted questions and answers meet our conditions of use.  Please take the opportunity to review the rules  before you make a contribution.   We automatically filter out obscene and offensive language and we also ask users to report any postings that they find offensive or objectionable.  Please email the site moderator Redbridgei.admin@redbridge.gov.uk , if you have concerns about a posting on this site.  Any repeated misuse of the Ask your Neighbour facility may  result in the user being suspended (via their IP address).

This feature has been developed to allow users to ask questions about any manner of issues like:

  • local problems
  • share your knowledge of local information
  • feedback on services you have received
  • issues related to the area that you live, that you'd like to discuss with others

Some of the above are just guidance/suggestions of what Ask my neighbours should be used for.

Neighbourhood Matters

Neighbourhood Matters postings will not be cleared or maybe removed if they are judged to:

  • be unlawful, harassing, defamatory, threatening, abusive, obscene, sexually explicitly or racially offensive
  • Contain information that may lead to court action or relate to court proceedings
  • Incite people to commit any crime, including incitement of racial hatred
  • Make personalised attacks on people or other users
  • Contain personal information about the user or other individuals.
  • Off the topic being discussed in that part of Neighbourhood Matters.

In submitting content to Neighbourhood Matters, you agree that you will not

  • submit any material which is not your own or you do not own the copyright for or that you have not got permission from the originator 
  • upload falsehoods or misrepresentations that could damage any third party
  • submit any material that is unlawful, obscene, pornographic, offensive or otherwise inappropriate
  • undertake in political campaigning 
  • solicit for business 
  • impersonate another person.

If you persist in attempting to violate the above terms, you may be suspended.

The forums will be checked regularly to ensure that posted comments meet our conditions of use.

Pledges

Unacceptable Content

Pledges will not be cleared or maybe removed which are judged to be:

  • Defamatory -Adversely affecting the reputation of a clearly identifiable person, company or organisation
  • Personal -Including private information about yourself or other people
  • Personal attacks on other people or other users
  • Harassing - Harassment is unwanted conduct (including insults and ‘jokes’) affecting the dignity of another, including written attacks on another person. Such conduct could relate to gender, race, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, disability or other similarly sensitive issues
  • Obscene - Material that is offensive, indecent or pornographic, including any material of a sexual nature
  • Offensive - Material that might reasonably be expected to cause distress to others. Pledges should be civil, tasteful and polite. They should not be mean-spirited, or contributed with the intention of causing trouble. Pledges should maintain a community focus. They should not include vulgar language
  • Confidential - Any information, disclosure of which would constitute a breach of the common law duty of confidentiality
  • An incitement - Any pledge that seeks to influence another to the commission of a criminal offence
  • In contempt of court - Disclosing information about live court proceedings before that information has been heard in court or where reporting restrictions are in place. Please note that the moderators will generally bar any postings relating to court proceedings, as they cannot be expected to know or investigate the legal status of individual cases
  • Advertising - Pledges advertising a service or business. Advertising of events should be through the Redbridge i events/what’s on section
  • Party political - Pledges that are clearly party political in nature. This is particularly relevant during elections, and those postings that canvass support for, or opposition to, any political party
  • In breach of copyright - Pledges that may infringe any of the laws governing copyright. (The council accepts no liability whatsoever for any actionable breach of such laws)
  • Duplicate or overly trivial Repetitive or trivial pledges
  • Impersonation Pledges perceived as impersonating another through user name or views
  • Using vulgar or offensive user names
  • Misusing or abusing the complaints’ facility - Unnecessary overuse or deliberate misuse of the complaints’ facility
  • Pledges will not be posted in languages other than English.

Forums

These forums have been split into themed areas and the topics have been set by the moderators. The forums are post moderated, which means your posting will appear immediately on the forum.

These themes will reflect the issues that the council wants to engage residents in.

Users may participate in discussions and contribute to the online debates, and can also set topics and discussion threads.

You may read all postings in the discussion forums without registering. If you wish to have your say and post a message then you will be required to register.

 

Registration to the forum is free, but we do insist that you abide by our rules.

Redbridge i forums – terms and conditions of use

Redbridge i has interactive forums and a comments section that enable users to discuss issues affecting the Borough. 

Our discussion forums are designed to provide an online space for constructive discussion between registered users of Redbridge i.  We want to keep the discussion flowing and allow users to express their views, while ensuring that the forums are free of defamatory or inappropriate content.

Registration to our forums is free, but we do ask that you abide by our terms and conditions of use.

Our forums are post moderated.  Post moderation means that posts submitted to the forums will be published immediately they are posted.  All posts will be checked by a forum moderator after they are posted to make sure they meet our terms of use.

Forums posts that break the terms and conditions will be removed and the registered user informed. Users who repeatedly break the terms of conditions of use will be banned.

Reporting posts that break the terms and conditions

Users who believe posts have been published that break the terms and conditions of use can use the ‘report it’ button to let the Redbridge i forums moderators know. Reports will be dealt with as soon as they are read by a moderator.

Participating in discussion forums

You need to be a registered user on the site. 

Unregistered users may view the discussion forums, but will not be able to post a comment. Once registered, if you wish to submit content, you agree that you will not:

  • Post material that is defamatory or makes personal attacks on individuals, whether named or unnamed.
  • Swear or use offensive terms eg racist or otherwise discriminatory language.
  • Submit any material which is not your own or you do not own the copyright for or that you have not got permission from the originator.
  • Publish falsehoods or misrepresentations that could damage any third party.
  • Submit any material that is unlawful, obscene, pornographic, offensive or otherwise inappropriate.
  • Post material in a language other than English.
  • Post material designed to affect support for a political party
  • Solicit for business.
  • Impersonate another person or create multiple user identities.
  • Misuse the ‘report it’ function.
  • 'Off the topic' discussions or postings within a thread
  • Duplicate or overly trivial repetitive postings
  • Anyone who persists in attempting to violate the above terms, may be permanently suspended. (via their IP address). 

Terms of use

When you participate in our discussion forums, you assign to the council a non-exclusive license to use your content on the Redbridge i web site and in any other council communication media.

The publishing of any content submitted by the user is at the discretion of the council and the council expressly reserves the rights to restrict the publishing of any material for whatever reason.

Banning users

Our aim is to keep the forum discussions free flowing and polite. Banning users is a last resort.

Posts that break the terms of conditions will be removed and the user who posted them informed of the reason. Users who break the terms and conditions, will be formally warned or may be banned immediately for very serious breaches.

On the third warning, the user will be permanently banned from using the forums. Banned users can ask to be reinstated after six months at the Redbridge i Manager’s discretion.

Complaints

The Council reserves the right to remove inappropriate or offensive messages. If you feel there is a post that is offensive or inappropriate in any way,  Or if you have any general concerns about how the forum operates please contact the moderator by Private Message (PM) or email Redbridgei.admin@redbridge.gov.uk.
