Background and future thinking
Redbridge i investigates and exploits a host
of new methods, to reach out and build closer relationships
between the Council and citizens. The implications for
democratic engagement; for shaping neighbourhoods and towns; and
for public service delivery, are profound.
The websites key features include:
- Property referenced data & interactive mapping to
facilitate wider take-up of local services and facilities.
- User personalisation, allowing the users to tailor Redbridgei
to meet their needs and interests.
- Customer segmentation approach to portal development and access
to services and features.
- SMS and email alerts for key services and events, meetings and
emergencies.
- Improved transactional capacity from paying bills to booking
services.
- New platforms to engage the public, including online
consultation, discussion forums, pledges, planning,
councillor, my nearest and school modules, blogs and email
newsletters. Users may also use the site to promote
community-organised events, and submit articles for our monthly
printed newspaper – Redbridge Life.
- Interactive report-it facility enabling residents to track
progress on reported issues.
- We recommend the site records the activity of registered users
and automatically recommends other areas of potential
interest.
- Recorded history the site records searches made by registered
users it and displays them when they return.
- Detailed analytical data of site use to enable us to monitor
usage and continually update and adapt the site to meet user needs
and requirements.
