Introduction to the LDF
Background and context
Following implementation of the Planning
and Compulsory Purchase Act in September 2004, the system of
Unitary Development and Local Plans was been replaced
with Regional Spatial Strategies and Local Development Frameworks
(LDFs).
The Redbridge Local Development Framework replaced the
Redbridge Unitary Development Plan (UDP) in 2008, and was the first
LDF in London to be found "sound" by the Planning
Inspectorate.
The LDF was produced in consultation with the local
community and feeds from the Community Strategy. Being a
London Borough, the regional spatial strategy is written by the
Mayors' team and undergoes the same scrutiny process as our LDF.
London LDFs must accord with the principles of the London Plan.
Visual guide to the LDF
The Planning Portal has produced an excellent animated guide in
Adobe Flash to the LDF showing how the documents
interelate using plain english. Please follow the link below.
