Sustainable planning and renewable energy
The built environment contributes substantially to climate
change, the council is committed to improving the sustainability of
buildings and developments within the borough.
Sustainability and minimising our impact on climate change is a
key theme throughout the Councils Local Development Framework.
The Council requires all proposals to be designed in accordance
with the principles of ‘sustainable development’. Get information
on the Council’s Sustainability Checklist and statements, BREEAM,
the Code for Sustainable Homes.

property or development. New developments may be expected to
produce up to 20% of it energy demand from renewable energies
onsite.
