Monkhams Estate Draft Character Appraisal
Monkhams Estate Draft Character Appraisal
The Council’s consultation on the draft Character Appraisal for
the Monkhams Estate, which began on 22 August and continued until 3
October 2011, has now concluded, and the outcomes and public
responses to the six week consultation will be reported to Area
Committee 2 on November 22nd 2011 (view our
online committee services page for details of the location
of the meeting / agenda / report etc).
The Appraisal has been funded by the Council’s Area Committee 2
and assesses the architectural and historic qualities of the
Monkhams area to consider whether it merits Conservation Area
status. In this regard the Appraisal recommends that the southern
part of the estate (closest to Woodford Broadway) be considered for
Conservation Area status.
The consultation responses have been considdered and
included in the Monkhams
Estate Special Character Appraisal Report of Consultation. The
report contains a statistical analysis of the questionnaire
responses the Council received during the consultation period, as
well as documenting the general statements and comments received
from the public, and suggested modifications to the Draft Character
Appraisal in response to the feedback received.

you have not read it yet by clicking the link below, but the
Council is no longer formally receiving comments and the appraisal
is likely to be altered after the report on the consultation has
been considered by Area Committee 2.
