Climate Week 2012

Climate Week 2012, Britain’s biggest climate change campaign, is an exciting national occasion thClimate week logoat offers people the chance to do their bit to protect our planet.  Across the UK, schools, communities and businesses will be running events and activities to inspire a new wave of action to create a sustainable future.

£1000 grants for school and community projects

This year, we gave schools and community groups in Redbridge the chance to apply for a Climate Week grant of up to £1000 to hold an event to raise awareness of climate change during Climate Week (12-18 March).

We received some fantastic applications and Redbridge will see some exciting events take place across the Borough during Climate Week.  See below to find out more.

What's on during Climate Week?

During Climate Week, make sure you get to one of your local events.  There’s something for everyone, from meat free cookery demonstrations to film showings. Plus, you’ll come away knowing more about how to do your bit to protect our planet and help combat climate change.

Tuesday 13 March, 10am to 3pm Climate Week Roadshow Sainsburys, High Road, Chadwell Heath, RM6 6PB Free Pick up tips and freebies to help you live more sustainably by reducing food waste, composting and recycling.
Thursday 15 March, 10am to 12noon Coffee morning Fullwell Cross Library, 140 High St, Barkingside, IG6 2EA Free A coffee morning to launch Barkingside 21’s exciting Pedal Power project
Friday 16 March, 6.30pm to 9.30pm Film showing Wanstead Library (The Churchill Room), Spratt Hall Rd, Wanstead, London, E11 2RQ Free Wanstead and Woodford Friends of the Earth show “A Farm for the Future” along with a presentation. Booking required: visit the Eventbrite website
Saturday 17 March, 1pm to 5pm Precious Waste Allotment site, Roding Lane North, Woodford Green, IG8 8LZ Free Fun family activities and launch of a water conservation project. For more information, visit the Heathcare Innovations website
