Allotments (general information and apply)
Anyone over the age of 18 can rent an allotment from the
Council or one of our allotment societies.
We have 24 allotment sites across Redbridge, with the
Council managing 14 of these
.
Facilites on allotment sites vary but usually include piped
water and toilets. Some sites have parking and society
trading huts.
The rent is reviewed every year and varies according to the
allotment site. Rent ranges between £73.50 and £90.50 a
year.
Concessions are often available for pensioners, the registered
disabled and the registered unemployed.

What happens next?
We will contact you within ten working days.
If your chosen allotment site has plots vacant
for rent we will send you a site plan for you to choose
your plot.
You will then be sent two copies of a tenancy agreement,
one of which needs to be signed and returned to us with a
payment of £6 for two sets of keys (for entry into the allotment
and toliet).
If we cannot offer you a plot on your chosen allotment site you
will be put on a waiting list and, where possible, offered an
alternative allotment site.
When is the best time to rent an allotment?
You can apply to rent an allotment at any time - though it is
often best to take a plot in the Autumn so you can prepare it for
Spring planting.
