The Inward Investment & Enterprise Unit works with partnership agencies to deliver a number of schemes to help local people gain access to training and employment opportunities, to raise skill levels and to address pockets of long-term unemployment amongst the hardest to reach and excluded groups of the borough.

JobNet

  • JobNet is a job brokerage JobNet logoservice providing training and back to work support to local people and a free recruitment service to local businesses. The service is delivered by Barnabas Workshops.

Redbridge apprenticeship scheme

  • The Council provides an apprenticeships scheme for young people who want to take up a professional career in local government. 

Community gold - support for long term unemployment

Community Gold logoThe community gold project is an initiative to help local people into sustained employment. 

It targets those who have been unemployed for more than 12 months or those who are considered 'economically inactive' - that is, people who do not receive jobseekers allowance, but claim other inactive benefits.

The project is being delivered within a community setting. It links closely with a range of support services to help people with housing, debt, health and childcare issues, as well as gain skills and training.

The project is currently delivered by Prevista Ltd in partnership with local providers, including; Sacoma, East Potential, Redbridge Institute of Adult Education, Young Peoples Project , Ellingham Employment Services and Life Line.

Annual jobs and training fair

  • The Council in partnership with jobs, skills and training agencies together with local businesses stage an annual event in Ilford Town Hall. Thousands of local people attend to see what employment and skills opportunities and help and advice is available to them.  
  • Jobs fair with Work Redbridge.
