Fee exemptions
Not all planning applications require a fee, use this page to
work out if you are elegible for a discount or a free
application.
Exemptions, discounts and fee waivers:
No application fee applies for:
- Resubmitted applications for the same site, by the
same applicant for the same proposal within one
year of a grant permission or refusal.
- Conservation Area and Listed Building Consent
- Applications required because of the removal of Permitted
Development (PD) rights by a planning condition or "Article 4
direction". If your application would have required planning
permission without an Article 4 direction in
place, then no discount applies
- The alteration of an existing dwelling to improve
access, safety, health or comfort for a disabled
person living or proposing to take up residence in the house
provided that no new dwelling is created.
- Applications to carry out works to trees subject to Tree
Preservation Orders (TPO) or Works to Trees in a Conservation Area
(TCA).
A discounted fee applies in these circumstances:
- Applications made by not-for-profit sports clubs or other
recreational organisations concerning playing fields for their own
use which do not involve the erection of buildings which will be
charged at a flat rate of £265
- Parish or Community Council's are charged half the
normal fee (although there are none of these presently in
Redbridge)
- Reserved matters applications are charged at the same rate as
full applications, although the categories which apply are those
which would apply for the development as a whole (e.g. "Access" for
an estate of houses is charged for the housing development, not for
the construction of roads)
- Alternative applications submitted simultaneously by (or on
behalf of) the same applicant for development of the same land, is
subject to separately calculated fees for each alternative and the
highest amount is then added an amount equal to half of the sum of
the remaining amounts to arrive at the total fee payable
- Applications for consent to display more than one advertisement
on the same site which will be charged a single fee at the highest
rate applicable to any of the advertisements to be displayed
Notes on Planning fees
- We are unable to refund fees if an application is withdrawn by
the applicant or agent (acting on the Applicant's behalf) prior to
a decision being reached.
