Real Nappies for London in Redbridge
Modern washable nappies, also known as 'Real Nappies', are a
popular alternative to disposable nappies.
Why use Real Nappies?
Money - They will save you up to £500 on the
first baby and if you use them for another child they will save you
even more.
Environment - They are better for the
environment. More than 58,800 disposable nappies are sent to
landfill in Redbridge every day! Each one takes up to 500
years to break down. And this costs the Council thousands of
pounds.
Health - They are better for your baby's
skin. Disposable nappies are made from crude oil, plastics
and chemicals, whereas real nappies are made from natural materials
- which would you prefer next to your baby's skin?
Free £30 voucher - The Council are offering a
£30 nappy voucher to all Redbridge babies under 18months old
(subject to availability). To apply for your free voucher or
find out more information visit Real Nappies for London.
How do you wash Real Nappies?
Don't fear, it is not as nasty as it might seem! There are
no smelly wet nappy buckets, no boiling of nappies and no
folding! These modern cloth nappies are shaped, have velcro
fastenings and can be washed in your normal washing
machine. A disposable liner can be used to easily dispose of
the solids before the nappy is washed.
If you are not keen to wash your own nappies then don't be put
off, because there is a nappy laundry service operating in
Redbridge who will wash them for you and drop them back to your
door!
Do they really work?
Yes they do! There are lots of parents, in Redbridge and
elsewhere, who use Real Nappies and love them! They are said
to leak less than disposables and cause less problems such as nappy
rash.
