- Your garden waste will be collected the day after your refuse
and recycling collection.
- Please present your bags by 7am on your collection day, just
within your property boundary where they can be seen from the
street.
- Please use your reusable green bag to present garden
waste. If you have extra garden waste please leave it in open
bags (such as a bin liner). We will collect up to 20 bags or
tied bundles.
- Please do not overfill the bags. Your garden
waste operatives need to be able to lift the bags to
shoulder height in order to tip the waste into the vehicle.
Missed collections and alternative ways of disposing

- Too avoid a missed collection please ensure your garden waste
is placed where it can clearly be seen from the road.
- If your garden waste is missed please call the Customer Contact
Centre on 0208 554 5000.
- Garden waste can also be taken to Chigwell Road Reuse and Recycling Centre
(The tip).
- You might also like to try composting, there is a special rate for
Redbridge residents purchasing a compost bin.
Getting a green bag
Please note that we are unable to deliver green bags. However,
you can pick up a green bag by visiting:
There is a limit of two bags per household, while stocks last.
You will be asked to present either a council tax bill or driving
licence as proof that you live in the borough. Bags are
available to Redbridge residents only.
As an alternative, you can:
- Purchase one from somewhere else that sells them such as a
garden centre, or
- Use a bin liner, but please remember to leave it open when you
put it out for collection.
Preparing your garden waste for collection
