Home Road and traffic safety

The aim of the Road Safety Team is to reduce the number of casualties occurring on the Borough's roads.  The team endeavours to achieve this through a series of campaigns, exhibitions, education, training and publicity.

The Road Safety Team can be contacted regarding the following:

  • Visits to schools to deliver Road Safety education
  • Cycle training for both children and adults
  • Walking Buses
  • Talks, information and advice on child car seats and seat belts 
  • Road Safety Theatre In Education
  • Road Safety campaigns and exhibitions

The team can also supply advice, information and leaflets on the following:

  • Drink & Drug Driving
  • Mobile phones and driving
  • Pass Plus
  • BikeSafe and ScooterSafe (Skills sessions for motorcycle, moped and scooter riders)
  • The Green Cross Code
  • How to use various pedestrian crossings (Pelicans, Puffins and Toucans)
  • Cycling and cycle helmets
  • Older road users 

Please note, the Road Safety Team do not deal with traffic engineering measures, such as traffic calming, speed humps, installation of pedestrian crossings, speeding traffic, winter road gritting, potholes, parking issues, yellow lines etc.  To speak to someone about any of these issues, please phone the Customer Contact Centre on:  020 8554 5000.
