Animals (inc dead, stray, lost)
We actively remove dead animals when we encounter them.
However, if
you have
spotted a dead animal anywhere in Redbridge you can report it to
us. Usually dead animals are removed within 24 hours.
If a dead animal is on private land or in your garden then you will
need to get it professionally removed.
Stray animals (apart from dogs)
If you see a stray animal other than a dog, for example a cat
then you will need to contact the RSPCA.
Cats
If you have lost your cat and you're concerned that it may have
been killed on the road please give our Customer contact centre a call as they may have
further information.
Foxes in gardens
If you find a fox in the garden, it is your responsibility to
have it removed. The Council cannot remove foxes or any other
animal dead or alive from your garden or private
property.
Finding a stray dog or having a stray dog in your
possession
If you find a stray dog on the street or in the park or
somewhere public then you will need to contact the Council.
Reporting a lost dog
Please report a lost dog to us because we may have it in one of
our kennels.
Contacting us about dogs
When you contact us about a dog we would like to know as much
information as possible. Ideally we would like to know the
following: (Please don't worry if you do not know these
things). Please be very careful with dogs as they can be
frightened and upset and may react unexpectedly.
- breed
- sex
- colour
- if its microchipped
- is it wearing a collar
- is it unwell or injured
