How you can assist us to monitor localised flooding
updates
If you see any localised flooding in the area you live, can you
please help us by taking a picture and sending to us by:
Council officers are monitoring the water levels and are in
close contact with the Environment Agency.

The Redbridge Emergency Public Information Line
The Redbridge Emergency Public Information Line, is a recorded
information phone line for residents to obtain the latest
information on flooding and other emergencies effecting our
borough. Residents can use this service 24hours a day.
The information is updated by the On Call Emergency
Planning Officer as public updates become available.

The Environment Agency Flood Warning Direct Service
The Environment Agency Flood Warning Direct Service can provide
you with early warnings of potential flooding to your home or
business call 0845 988 1188 to register.
You can check whether your home or business is at risk from
Flooding on the Environment Agency Web
Site.
You will not receive Flood Warnings unless you are registered
with the Environment Agency Flood Warnings Direct Service, to
register call 0845 988 1188.
The Flood Warnings Direct Service has four levels of flood
alert:
1. Flood
Alert
What it means: Flooding is possible. Be
prepared.
What to do:
- Be prepared to act on your flood plan.
- Prepare a flood kit of essential items.
- Monitor local water levels and the flood forecast on the
Environment Agency website.
2. Flood Warning
What it means: Flood is expected. Immediate action
required.
Act now!
What to do:
- Move family, pets and valuables to a safe place.
- Turn off gas, electricity and water supplies if safe to do
so.
- Put flood protection equipment in place.
3. Severe Flood Warning
What it means: Severe flooding. Danger to life.
What to do:
- Stay in a safe place with a means of escape.
- Be ready should you need to evacuate from your home.
- Co-operate with the emergency services.
- Call 999 if you are in immediate danger.
4. Warnings no
longer in force
What it means: No further flooding is
currently expected in your area.
What to do:
- Be careful. Flood water may still be around for several
days.
- If you've been flooded, ring your insurance company as soon as
possible.
