Redbridge first stop for Royal Jubilee visits by The Queen
26 January 2012
Press release number:
Residents will have the chance to see the
Queen as Redbridge has been chosen as the first place Her Majesty
will visit on the Diamond Jubilee Regional Tour.
Her Majesty The Queen will be accompanied by
His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh on the visit to Valentines
Mansion and Gardens on Thursday 29 March. It is one of a
series of regional visits throughout the UK this year.
Councillor Keith Prince, Leader of Redbridge
Council, said, “It is a real honour that The Queen will be visiting
Redbridge as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The
Borough was lucky enough to be a part of the celebrations for the
Golden Jubilee 10 years ago and I’m delighted that we will be
representing North East London for the Diamond Jubilee visit.
It is a fantastic showcase for Valentines Park and the Mansion and
I would urge residents to book the date in their diaries and join
the crowds for the visit.”
Councillor Ian Bond, Deputy Leader of
Redbridge Council, added, “It is fantastic news that the
Borough has been chosen for the visit. This is an exciting year for
Redbridge and London, with the Olympics taking place this summer
and a visit from The Queen will really help to make it a very
special and memorable year. It will also give us a great
opportunity to show people what Redbridge has to offer.”
The Queen last visited the Borough on 9 May
2002 for her Golden Jubilee celebrations, when she visited
Redbridge Lane West allotments.
See confirmation of the visit on the official website of The
British Monarchy.
