Apply for your child's school place online!
23 August 2010
Press release number:PR1079
Parents and carers will be able to apply for their child's
school place online from Wednesday 1 September when the Council
launches its eAdmissions campaign.
The Council launched online admissions four years ago to give
parents and carers more choice and make it easier and quicker for
them to apply for their child's schools place.
Last year 1628 people applied for their child's primary place
online - an increase of 14 per cent on the previous year while 1372
applied for their child's secondary school place online - an
increase of 47 per cent.
If your child is starting primary school for the first time in
September 2011 or is transferring from primary to secondary school
in September 2011, you can go to Redbridge i and apply online from
1 September 2010.

We know that more and more Redbridge residents are doing their
business online including anything from paying bills to reporting
rubbish, so we know it's important to accommodate those needs in
the other services we provide like schools admissions.
eAdmissions - applying for your child's place online - offers a
whole host of benefits:
- It's quick and easy to do.
- You can find out more about the schools' reports and locations
on Redbridge i and by using the Redbridge i map.
- Each application will have a unique reference number helping to
identify the application.
- Applicants will get an email confirmation.
- The system helps applicants check for errors on application
forms which means there is no need for an application to be sent
back in the post for correction.
- Applicants can change their details up to the closing
date.
- Text messages are sent to parents to remind them of key
dates.
This year the advantages of applying online now include finding
out the results online after 5pm of the day the notification
letters are posted rather than waiting until the following day or
for the post.
Another major change to applying for a school place
Parents and carers should also note that there is another major
change to applying for a school place both online and offline. Any
Redbridge residents wanting to apply for a primary or secondary
school in a neighbouring Borough will need to apply to Redbridge
who will liaise with the relevant authority on their behalf. As
well as for those starting in September 2011, this will affect
anyone applying for a change of school from September 2010.
