Schools library service
The Schools' Library Service is a support service available
to all teachers of subscribing schools and other educational
establishments.
The Service is designed to help provide an up-to-date teaching
and learning experience, with various loans and a range of audio
visual materials providing curriculum support delivered to the
school.
Our objectives are: To assist teachers and schools to raise the
standards of education by delivering a full service of advice and
educational resources, and we aim to deliver value for money,
whilst offering flexibility in the selection of services to suit
requirements.
Advisory Service
Trained librarians from Redbridge Schools' Library Service are
available on request to offer advice and support to the Heads,
teachers and support staff.

- Advise and train library co-ordinators or helpers

Loans Service
Teachers can borrow fiction, project books, dual language books,
big books, posters, artefacts, CDs, DVDs and story sacks by making
an appointment to visit the showroom or by completing Loan Request
Forms which can be sent by post, fax or telephone giving 4
weeks notice.
Our resources are regularly maintained and updated in line with
general demand and national curriculum requirements.
Loans are delivered directly to the school. A story sack
may be exchanged personally during the term.
Loans are issued for a full term but may be renewed on request
by telephone.

Exchange/Library Loan
This is available to Secondary Schools and those Primary Schools
that subscribe for three years. The Exchange/Library Loan allows
schools to select books for their library to reflect their
individual needs.
These long term loans supplement the school library collection and
may be exchanged in part or whole annually over a three year
period. The schools resources are constantly being replaced
and updated to appeal to the pupils.
- 750 books for up to 3 years (Secondary Schools)
- 500 books for up to 3 years (Primary Schools)
- Fiction and Non-Fiction
Book Purchase
We offer a service whereby schools can buy books with up to a
30% discount (20% non subscribing schools) from our supplier.
- Schools place orders directly with the supplier through their
online bookselling service.
- Books are delivered free of charge direct to the school.
If required, books can be serviced at an additional
cost.

In addition we can:
- Visit the school to do a stock check to identify missing
subject areas.
- Allow schools to use SLS stock to identify good up-to-date
resources that can be bought for their own libraries.
