Redbridge Museum Education Service
Redbridge Museum education service is a free
service available to all Redbridge school and youth groups.

It gives a teacher's view of Redbridge Museum's engaging and
enriching learning experience for schools.
New Schools Session
South Asian Migrations
This session takes a historical look at the migration of peoples
from the South Asian sub-continent to Britain and Redbridge.
Children will think about the changing nature of migration, and
explore how these cultures have become part of every day life
today.
The session will use objects, photographs, maps and oral history
from Redbridge Museum's rich collections, looking at experiences of
local people from the past and present to gain a greater
understanding of their local community.
Taught Sessions
We offer taught sessions which use the
Museum's permanent displays, a special handling collection as
well as a Victorian bedroom and WWII Anderson shelter.
These unique resources support the National Curriculum and
cross-curricular studies.

The Museum works closely with the Local Studies Library
& Archives.
Groups can arrange a session looking at historic archives specific
for their area and possibly their school, using maps, newspapers
(microfilm), photographs (online), and other original paper
documents.
We also can arrange INSET sessions for teachers, assemblies, and
support your school's projects with bespoke sessions or loaned
objects.
Schools at Valentines Mansion
Redbridge Museum Education Service run taught sessions for Key
Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 at the newly restored Valentines Mansion in
Gants Hill.
