Fairlop Outdoor Activity Centre
Fairlop Outdoor Activity Centre is an ideal place to learn to
sail, windsurf and kayak. The 40 acre lake is situated in the
grounds of Fairlop Waters Country Park
The Centre holds an AALA licence and is approved as a training
centre with the Royal Yachting Association and British
Canoe Union for instruction in dinghy sailing, windsurfing,
power-boating and paddle-sports. Courses are designed to suit all
ages and interests. Burnham Yacht Harbour on the River Crouch is
the coastal base used for power boating.
The
schools programme runs throughout the year catering for 30 primary
schools, 23 secondary and 15 special needs
schools/groups.
The Centre is open throughout the year on Saturdays and young
peoples accreditation courses run in the school holidays.
The youth service accesses the Centre on summer evenings five
nights a week with a kayak rolling pool session at Loxford on
Tuesday evenings. Centre members can use the Centre during the
majority of opening times.
You can also purchase orienteering maps from the centre
reception to try our new permanent orienteering course in the
country park.
