Parks Friends Groups
About friends groups for Redbridge parks
Local residents with a keen interest in their local park or open
space are invited to form or join a friends group.
Friends groups help keep the Borough’s parks a place for
everyone to enjoy.
Made up of local residents and parks users, the groups help:
- the Council manage their local open space
- by doing nature conservation work,
- community engagement with schools
- and letting the Council know what they want to see through
consultation.
Six of the Borough’s Parks currently have friends groups and we
are looking for residents to set up groups at other parks across
the Borough.

Help with Green Flag status
Redbridge’s friends groups also play an important part in
helping their local parks to achieve Green Flag status, the
national standard for parks and green spaces in England and
Wales.
Hainault Forest Country Park and
Elmhurst Gardens received the
prestigious award with the help of their friends groups and the
Council is consulting with park community groups to help next
year’s nominated parks meet the award criteria.
Nature Conservation
Our Nature Conservation Team organise volunteering events
throughout the year, find out more about
