Public Art
Redbridge recognises the valuable contribution culture can make
to place making and enhancing the quality of the natural and built
environment. North East London is undergoing rapid redevelopment,
with the arrival of the Olympics and Crossrail and we are committed
to providing new opportunities for public art as part of the
process of change. A number of exciting projects are currently
underway.

Diamond Jubilee
Fiona Heron was commissioned to produce a
sculpture for the new Dry Garden at Valentines Mansion which was
opened by the Queen as part of her Jubilee visit to
Redbridge on the 29th March 2012. Fiona worked alongside the Garden
Designers Simon Litt and Stephen Smith. Visitors to the London
Pride Festival commented on the ‘wonderful', ‘timeless’,
‘beautiful’, ‘stunning’ design.
Claybury Art Trail
Caren Hartley has been commissioned to produce
four new pieces for the Claybury Park
Art Trail. The works will be installed in July and Caren will be
running a family workshop on 2nd August to launch the project.
Grove Farm
Erect Architecture have also been
commissioned in partnership with East Thames Group
for a public art
project as part of a new housing scheme Grove Farm in Chadwell
Heath. The aim of the project is to enhance the public realm
providing innovative opportunities for free play.
