Glasbury House is an early Georgian Manor House, which stands in
seven
acres of grounds on the banks of the
River Wye. It has been owned by the London Borough of
Redbridge and operated as an Outdoor Education Centre since
1963.
The overall aim of the Centre is to enrich the education of
students. By involving young people in outdoor and
adventurous activities, challenging learning situations can be used
to develop qualities such as self-knowledge and self-esteem.
An awareness of the environment and others’ needs can also be
created.
