Walk to Health

Picture of people walkingThe Redbridge Walk to Health programme is a set of weekly walks in various parks across the Borough. Everyone is welcome to join the walks, regardless of current fitness levels, and what’s more, they’re a great way of making new friends!

The walks are free and are led by trained and committed walk leaders who are also fully qualified First Aiders.

Would you like to become a Walk Leader?

If you are interested in becoming a Walk Leader, please contact us and we will inform you of when the next course is taking place.  The courses generally consist of two days; day 1 of the course involves practice in leading a walk and information on keeping people motivated.  Day 2 covers the first aid issues that may arise during a walk.  The course is free for those who wish to be a walk leader volunteer (minimum 1 walk per week) or £60 per person.

Walk Redbridge: exploring the borough on foot

Vision - Redbridge Culture and Leisure has also published a self-walk map for residents who want to walk in their own time and at their own pace.

The brochure features:

  • 10 Walking routes in Redbridge.
  • 2 walks to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Park including a scenic and a direct route.
  • 4 easy walk routes across Redbridge parks.

The Walk Redbridge brochure is designed to make it as easy as possible for you to start leisure walking. It gives bus routes to the walks' starting points and grades each walk depending on the type terrain.

Walking really hasn't been easier! Pick up your copy of Walk Redbridge from your local library or telephone 020 8708 3044 to be sent a free copy. A list of walks can be found in the Do More in Redbridge brochure delivered with Redbridge Life on a quarterly basis.
