Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day is an annual opportunity for the nation to show
our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces
community.
Armed Forces Day is on Saturday 25 June
2011, and is an opportunity for the nation to show our support
for the serving members of men and women who make up the Armed
Forces community within Redbridge who are:
- Armed Forces
- Reserve Forces
- Cadet Forces
- Veterans

below:
Venue:
The Ilford War
Memorial Gardens, Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park
Date: Saturday 25 June
Time: 10.30
am to 4.00 pm
His Worshipful The
Mayor of Redbridge Councillor Chris Cummins will be in
attendance together with Colonel Paul Acda Deputy Lieutenant of the
London Borough of Redbridge.
The Last Post and Reveille will be played and
the Exhortation will be said by Mr John Coombes, Chairman, Royal
British Legion Barkingside.
The Kohima Epitaph by a serving soldier and
Wreaths will be laid to commemorate the fallen of all
conflicts.
The Memorial Hall will be open and
there will be a display by Serving Members and Cadets in the
Grounds of the War Memorial Gardens.

The first Armed Forces Day was 27 June
2009 and since then, people across the borough have
been involved:
- communities hold local events
- businesses show their support through promotional
offers and
- local authorities hold flag-raising
ceremonies.
