information about school governance:
The Governors Support Service is dedicated to providing
information, advice, training and support to our 1200 school
governors. We offer advice to governors on issues raised and
support when recruiting a headteacher.
The team supports the termly meeting with the Cabinet Member and
Director of Children's Services.
The support will include:
- a central training programme of courses covering relevant
issues for schools
- regular briefing notes on topical issues
- placing local people in LA governor places on governing
bodies.
The team also provides training courses for
governors aimed at updating and equipping governors to carry out
their many functions and responsibilities to the benefit of the
school and community.
