Graduate teacher programme
Primary graduate teacher programme
Following the closure next year of the University of Gloucester
London campus the Training and Development Agency have now
reallocated the places to other London providers.
There is no longer a set allocation of places for Redbridge
schools. Most of the allocation has been directed to increase
PGCE programmes and only three universities have received
additional places for the graduate teacher programme.
Universities with additional places for the GTP
- The Institute of Education - eight places
- South Bank University - eight places
- Middlesex University (London North Consortium) - 25 places
- The Institute and South Bank are already very
oversubscribed.
The Institute already has around 100 applications from schools
and candidates for their existing 10 places.
The London North Consortium gives priority to its current
partnership boroughs Brent, Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey,
Islington and Waltham Forest.
Although they would consider Redbridge school applications they
are also very oversubscribed and would not be able to offer any
guarantee of places.
There are three other existing local GTP providers
- Forest Independent Collegiate, Chigwell - 12 places
- University of Cumbria, Tower Hamlets - 26 places
- SCITTELS, Newham - 16 places.
Please be aware that they are all small providers with
existing commitments to partner schools.

We are currently exploring further options with London South
Bank University for 2011 onwards.
