How to make a complaint about a school
Anyone wishing to complain about a school should contact the
school to resolve the problem.
Search our Services A-Z for contact
details for a particular school. All schools are required, by
law, to have a complaints procedure, which they should publicise
and make easily available. Please contact the school for this
information.
The school must be given the opportunity to respond to your
complaint and it is the school's responsibility to deal with
complaints through its own complaints procedure.
We do not have the power to investigate complaints about schools
or instruct a school to take any particular action in response
to a complaint.
There are three specific exceptions when consideration will be
given to our involvement in a complaint about a school.
These are:
- when child protection related allegations are made
- complaints about the school's failure to deliver the national
curriculum and
- concerns about health and safety within a
school.
If you need further guidance or clarification, please contact
our Children’s Services Complaints Team Childrens.Complaints@redbridge.gov.uk.
