Statement by the Redbridge Islamic Centre about the conviction of Mosque attackers
‘’Redbridge Islamic Centre (RIC) welcomes yesterday’s decision
by court of law to sentence four young men found guilty of the
attacks on the centre and its staff, on evening of 24 March
2011.
RIC is pleased with the local community's dignified response in
pulling together and remaining calm during a very difficult time
and letting justice take its course.
RIC wishes to express its appreciations to the agencies involved
with the case and the many well wishers for their support during
this time.
RIC reaffirms its commitment to community engagement and community
cohesion and in doing so making Redbridge a better place to live
for all together, through its many services.
RIC hopes the case sets a precedent in Redbridge and beyond that
attacks targeting a community or place of worship will not be
tolerated and the culprits will face the full force of the law.RIC
hopes the young men found guilty of the attacks, use the sentencing
time to reflect on their actions and become better citizens, once
released back into the community, so they can make positive
contribution to society. RIC welcomes the opportunity for them to
visit the centre in future and find out about its work.
Finally to this end, the centre wishes to make no further
statements at this stage’’.
