Vigilance Programme
Redbridge Council through the Community Safety Partnership is working
closely with our partners from London Probation, Redbridge Police,
the Drugs Intervention Programme and the St Giles
Trust, targeting offenders of serious acquisitive crime, such
as burglary or robbery.
The Programme
The aim of the programme is to
provide additional monitoring of known offenders who live
in Redbridge disrupting any potential criminal activities.
While providing targeted support to help these
individuals make positive changes in their lives, helping them to
stop offending.
Disruption of Activities
An aspect of the programme is
targeted police operations that follow and monitor suspected
offenders. Monitoring vehicles coming and going in high-crime
neighbourhoods, as well as providing additional officers to monitor
known prolific offenders and disrupt stolen goods markets.
Targeted Help to Stop Offending
Assistance is also
provided to these known offenders through the St Giles Trust
to help them make positive changes in their lives, so that they
stop offending. Support provided includes:
- Assistance in getting into education,
training or employment
- Assistance accessing housing provision
- Assistance applying for benifits
- Entry onto drugs rehabilition programmes
- Advice and assistance in positive life
changes
