Regardless of  whether you are renting or own your own property you may be able to get help and support to repair or improve your home.  We may also be able to help you with renovations and adaptations by using our handyperson scheme.

Handyperson Scheme

This scheme is offered to help with small jobs around the home. No matter what your housing situation is you may be entitled to it.

Home Improvements and Repairshandyman at work

  • If you are a Council tenant and would like to make improvements or repairs to your home, then you need to contact Housing & Asset Management..
  • If you are with a Housing Association then you need to contact your landlord.
  • If you are a home owner or private rented tenant the Council may be able to help you financially with home improvements and repairs. The assistance may be in the form of a loan except in some limited circumstances when a grant may be available. Please see our information on financial grants.

Elderly, vulnerable and disabled people

Please call 020 8708 4707 (Mon - Fri from 9 am to 5 pm) for help with the following

  • help you remain safe, secure and warm in your own home
  • oversee repairs and adaptations for vulnerable homeowners and private rented tenants
  • offer advice, advocacy and work closely with grant officers, occupational therapists and social workers
  • help you with form filling if you are eligible for grants or alternative funding
  • help you choose a reputable builder
  • help with private or self funding work.
