Pay your Council Tax

payments to Council Tax.
We apologise for the delay and are working to
reduce waiting times.
How to pay your Council Tax
There are a number of ways you can pay your Council Tax.
You can choose which payment method is appropriate for
you.
Payments can be made:
- in one instalment on 4 April
- in two instalments on 4 April
and 20 September
- Or by ten monthly instalments
Online
Pay your Council tax online.
Direct Debit
You can pay by Direct Debit using one of the methods below
- You can complete the On-line Direct
Debit mandate and we will ensure your payments are set up for
you
- Fill in the Direct Debit form on your bill and send it in to
us
- Download a direct debit

- Telephone one of our advisors for further advice on 020 8708

Via your bank
Quote sort code 57-96-51 and a/c number 00000000. Quote
your Council Tax Reference. Our account number is eight zeros
- 00000000 so please ensure you put this (however odd it may
seem).
By Phone
Please phone 020 8708 4708 to pay by credit/debit card. The line
is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We accept payments from
Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa Debit, Electron and Solo
cards.
Please have ready your reference number, your credit card and the
amount you need to pay.
There will be an administration charge of 1.5% on credit card
payments to cover our processing costs. There is no charge for
debit card payments.
In person
Call in at the Cashier's office.
Cash or Cheque
You can pay in person at many high street banks
or through giro bank, although a fee may be payable.
Post
Send your payment along with the payment slip (attached to
your bill) to: Chief Payments, Benefits and Customer Services
Officer at 22-26 Clements Road, Ilford, Essex, IG1 1BD.
Please pay at least four working days early to ensure
we receive your payment on time.
Important changes for accepting Large Cash payments
If you want to make a cash payment of £3,000 or
over in the Council's Cash Office your name must be on the
bill and you must provide personal identification, such as one
of the following:
- valid UK/EC signed passport
- current UK or European photo-card driving licence
- national identity card containing photograph
- Government issued photo identification.
This does not apply to payments made by cheque, debit card or
credit card.
