Handyperson scheme
The Redbridge Handyperson Scheme (the Scheme) provides
a practical service to vulnerable households by carrying out odd
jobs and small-scale repairs to their home. The service is
provided for free or at a low cost depending on the scheme
eligibility.
Who is the service for?
The service is available to homeowners, private sector tenants,
Council Tenants (Redbridge Homes) and tenants of participating
Housing Associations who meet the eligibility criteria.
You may be eligible for the service, if you meet
any of the following criteria:
- 60 years of age or over
- 16 or 17 years of age, living in your own
accommodation
- between 18 and 59 years of age and meet any of the
following:
- have recently (within last 6 months) moved into your own
accommodation having previously been in an institution or supported
living scheme
- currently living in supported accommodation
- living in your own accommodation and have a long-term
condition, disability or specific health problem which causes
difficulty in carrying out odd jobs
- in receipt of low income and/or health related welfare benefits
(you will be asked to provide proof dated within the last three
months)

Types of jobs that we may be able to help you
with:
- changing light bulbs
- locks and security chains
- fitting smoke alarms
- fitting draught excluders
- unblocking a sink
- changing tap washers
- fitting grab/handrails
- putting up curtain rail/wire
- replacing broken toilet seats
- replacing small areas of bathroom/kitchen tiles
- fitting door bells
- renewing bath sealants
- repairing small areas of fencing
A 24-hour service is available for genuine emergencies
only.
The scheme will not accept jobs that are the
responsibility of your landlord or letting agent.
Cost and payments (subject to review)
Below is a simple breakdown of the cost. Qualifying
benefits are benefits including:
- benefits provided for long term illness or disability (such as
Attendance Allowance)
- benefits to supplement low income (such as Job Seekers
allowance)

We may supply standard material if you are physicaly unable to
do so. The cost will be met by you.
Some basic items such as tap washers will be made available free
of charge.

£30 plus VAT for the first hour.
Additional £15 per hour from the second hour.

A seperate charge for out of hours emergencies
apply.
Payments will be collected on completion of
work.

What will happen when I contact the Scheme?
- You will be asked a series of questions to establish
eligibility.
- If eligible, an appointment will be arranged only if the work
can be completed under the Handyperson Scheme.
- You will be asked to provide proof of any qualifying benefits
you are currently receiving at the time of visit.
- While at the property, with your permission, the handyperson
will inspect and fill in a checklist form to help you identify any
potential health and safety hazards in your
property.
Who is delivering the scheme?
Atlantic Lodge
Ltd has been awarded a 3-5 year contract to delivery the
Handyperson Scheme on behalf of Redbridge Home Improvement Agency,
which is part of London Borough of Redbridge Housing Service.

letting anyone inside your property. If in doubt please

Complaints procedure
If you have any complaints about the service, then please write
to Redbridge Handyperson Scheme. You
will receive a reply from Atlantic Lodge Ltd within 10
workinig days on receipt of the complaint.

For help with larger jobs, elderly homeowners or homeowners with
