Sheltered accommodation
Sheltered accommodation is warden controlled housing and is
managed by
Housing Association's.
However, the Council owns two extra care schemes managed by
social services. This is for people who would like to
live independently whilst having the security that support is
available when needed.
Support means having a warden onsite for any emergencies as well
as other supported measures adapted to individual needs.
Please be aware that it is not 24 hours support. If you
feel that you need 24 hours support then you will need to contact
social services.
How do I qaulify for Sheltered Accommodation
To qualify for sheltered accommodation you will be
visited at your home where an application form will be taken.
We will then carry out further checks and your application
will be taken to a panel, where you will be
awarded points based on your circumstances. For
example, if you have a serious medical condition you will get more
points. We will inform you by post and the Allocations team will
contact you when a sheltered accommodation property becomes
available.
