Change in circumstances
If there is a change in your circumstances that may affect your
Council
Tax then
you must let us know as this could affect how much you
pay.
Such changes that could affect it are:
- if the person responsible for Council Tax dies
- property has changed from two or more people living there to
one person
- change address
- property becomes empty
- check out our 'Help with Council Tax' page for the
most common situations
- if someone else needs to be added, edited or taken off the
Council Tax bill then please contact us.
If you are unsure whether a change of your circumstances affects
your Council Tax then please ask us.
You must let us know within 21 days of any
change of circumstance that may affect your Council Tax, as you
could be paying too much Council Tax. Let us know:
Landlords
If there are any changes to your tenant details for example,
someone moving out or moving in, where the tenant pays the Council
Tax, then you must let us know by completing our form. Let us
know:
Have you moved address?
If you have moved address then you must let us know so that we
can stop your Council Tax. You will then need to re-register
for Council Tax at your new property.
If the person responsible for the Council Tax has died then you
need to contact us immediately.
If someone in your property has had a change in circumstances
for example, become a student, you may be entitled to a
discount.
If you are the only person now living in your property then
please complete the Single persons
discount letter and form (pdf 29kb).
If you would like to change the name of the person on the bill
then please complete this form. Let us know:
What happens next?
We will amend your Council Tax accordingly and send out a
revised bill.
