Diversity events for May 2012

There are a number of religious festivals and observances during the month, which can be found in our Diversity Calendar below.

The events in focus for May are:

  • Deaf Awareness Week - 7th - 13th May 2012
  • International Day of Families - 15th May 2012
  • International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) - 17th May 2012

Deaf Awareness Week

Deaf Awareness Week is an annual event aiming to raise awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding hearing loss and deafness. Supported by over 100 deaf charities, Deaf Awareness Week is promoted across the UK with a number of events, all with the aim of educating and informing.

International Day of Families

The International Day of Families is an occasion to celebrate the importance of families to people, societies and cultures around the world.

International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO)

This nationally recognised day is an opportunity for us all to look at how we can promote equality for LGBT people and challenge homophobia and transphobia.

The calendar is a practical resource for everyone as each month includes details of all the main religious and secular dates - including bank holidays.

The calendar can help to ensure that meetings and events are not planned for dates when key sections of the workforce or customer base cannot participate.  

Please take the opportunity to read through the calendar and learn more about the important dates in 2012.
