Redbridge mentoring service helping young people
The Redbridge Mentoring Project works with young people
aged eight to 17. The project offers each young person
access to a trained mentor who is recruited from the local
community.
The mentoring relationship will provide young people with an
adult role model who can help and support them to achieve their
agreed goals.
Who is the service for?
The generic mentoring project is for young people at risk of
offending and anti-social behaviour. Referrals for this project,
can only come via Youth Offending and Targeted Prevention
Service.
The Muslim mentoring project is for Muslim young people who are
at risk of social exclusion. Referrals for this project can come
from parents or carers, professionals, or any community group or
organisation who is already working with the young person.
The next steps
Generic Mentoring Project
If your son / daughter is already working with the Youth
Offending and Targeted Prevention Service, then talk to their
worker about whether a referral to the mentoring project would be
appropriate.
Muslim Mentoring Project
If your son / daughter is already working with the Youth
Offending and Targeted Prevention Service, then talk to their
worker about whether a referral to the mentoring project would be
appropriate.
If the young person is not already working with the Youth
Offending and Targeted Prevention Service, please contact the
Mentoring Co-ordinator for a referral form.
What information does the customer need to supply?
If a referral is being made to the project by someone other
than;the parents, then the young person and the family must be
aware of the referral and signed the referral form, before it will
be accepted by the project.
What happens next?
Once the project has received a referral, we will contact the
young person and the family and discuss with them the referral to
the project and arrange to visit them at home to discuss the
project further and to answer any questions that they have.
