This service currently provides translations and interpretations
in approximately 60 languages. 
This service can provide experienced interpreters to assist
during first language assessments in schools.
How quickly can I have an interpreter?
This would depend on the language required. Most
frequently requested languages can be supplied within the hour.
How much does it cost for an interpreter?
Interpreters cost £20 per hour, plus any travelling
expenses. If an interpreter is required to travel a long
distance then travel time is also charged.
How much does it cost for a document to be translated?
Translations are charged at ten pence per word.
Would one of your interpreters be able to make a phone call to
arrange an appointment for me to make a home visit to a
family?
Yes, this can be arranged. You would need to give clear
details ie: the person’s name, phone number, address and
date/time of the intended appointment. The interpreter will
call you back directly to let you know the outcome of the
conversation.
I am about to email you a document for translation. How
quickly can this be done?
This would depend on the language
required:
- Bosnian/Serbo-Croat and Romanian are usually the same day
- French, Urdu, Somali, Swahili usually take one to
two days
More unusual languages can take two weeks. The length of
these would also depend on the length of the document.
