What are day care services?
Day care services provide support for people
living in the community, social inclusion and respite care for
carers. 
It offers practical and emotional support by
providing a range of activities and facilities
to help stay as independent as possible and improve and
maintain quality of life.
Who is the service for?
The service is for older people living in Redbridge
and for those with a physical and/or sensory
disability.
Where are the day care services in
Redbridge?
Our day care centres are:
- Oaklea Lodge in
Ilford.
- Kielder Close in
Hainault
- Elderberries in Woodford
Green (frail elderly unit and dementia care unit)
- Link Place and the Simon Green
Training Centre in Hainault (for adults with a physical and/or
sensory disability)
What services do they offer?
Each of our day care centres has its own individual character
and offers a safe, comfortable and friendly environment where
you can meet people, have lunch and get involved with a
variety of social activities including:
- keep fit sessions
- lifelong learning
- massages
- reflexology
- hairdressing
- arts and crafts
- entertainment
- outings and trips
- gardening
A midday meal is offered everyday with menus catering for
different dietary and cultural requirements.
How do I access the service?
To attend a day care centre you will need
to undergo an assessment of need and providing you meet the
eligibility criteria (with the exception of the Downshall Centre)
you will be allocated a place. For an assessment contact the
Community Care Advice Centre.
How much does it cost?
The cost of day care services will depend on your personal
circumstance and this will be discussed with you once a financial
assessment has been completed. We need to ask for financial
information so that your contribution is at an amount you can
afford to pay.
