Community meals
What are community meals?
Community meals (sometimes known as meals on wheels) is
a delivery service of ready-made meals, direct to your own
home.
The community meals service provides a choice of nutritional
meal options everyday of the year including bank
holidays.
The hot meals service is delivered between 12.00pm -
2.30pm.
Frozen meals are also available and are delivered
fortnightly. Microwave ovens and freezers can also be loaned
free of charge.
Who can get these meals?
The service is for people in the community who wish to
remain independent in their own homes and are finding it
difficult to prepare meals for themselves.
Those with special dietary, cultural and religious
needs are catered for.
How much does it cost?
A two-course hot or frozen meal costs £4.00 (valid
until Sunday 7 April 2013).
How do I access the service?
If you think that you will benefit from the community meals
service, we will need to carry out an assessment of what your needs
are. If you are eligible then the community meals team will contact
you to set up the service.
For an assessment please contact the Community Care Advice Centre.
