Home Transitional arrangements

This page provides guidance for existing operators on how to keep your current permissions and what you will need to do to get a new permission from the Licensing Authority which will have effect from 01 Seprember 2007.

Various existing licence types are granted under the Gaming Act 1968 (GA), the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 (BGLA) and the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1973 (LAA). Their expiry provisions are listed in the following table and further information is available from the links below

Existing permits are automatically extended to 31 August 2007

No new applications under the GA are permitted after 27 April 2007

Betting

 

Bookmakers Permit, Betting Agency, Betting Offices, Tracks, Pools Promoters, Horse Racecourse, Inter-Track betting (BGLA)

Existing permits have expiry dates after 31 August 2007, however they will cease to have effect after that date.

No new applications under the BGLA are permitted after 27 April 2007

 

Bingo premises

 

Permit (GA)

Existing permits are automatically extended to 31 August 2007

No new applications under the GA are permitted after 27 April 2007

 

Casinos

 

Permitted Areas (GA)

Existing permits are automatically extended to 31 August 2007

No new applications under the GA are permitted after 27 April 2007

 

Members clubs

 

Pt II & Pt III (GA)

For permits expiring before 31 August 2007 apply to Licensing Justices for renewal

Permits expiring after 31 August 2007 remain in force until expiry as:

  • Pt II - Club Gaming Permit
  • Pt III - Club Machine Permit

Apply before the expiry date to the Licensing Authority

Pubs and other alcohol licensed premises

 

Permit (GA)

All permits remain valid until their expiry date. Apply to the Licensing Authority to renew

  • Notification (max 2 cat.C or D machines)
  • Gaming Machine Permit

Other Premises with gaming machines e.g. take away premises and cab offices

Permit (GA)

Permits remain valid until their expiry date. They can not be renewed and machines must be removed from premises upon their expiry.

Society Lotteries 

Registration (LAA)

registrations remain valid until their expiry date. Apply to renew to

  • Society Lotteries - Gambling Commission
  • Small Society Lotteries - Licensing Authority

Prize gaming

Permit (LAA)

Permits are automatically extended to 31 August 2007 however none have been issued by the authority.

No new applications under the LLA are permitted after 27 April 2007
