More say for local people
The Licensing Act 2003 gives a person, body
representing persons or someone in business in the vicinity of the
premises more power, as you have the right to object to licence applications, appeal the committee's decision and ask for
reviews of any licences in place.
You will have the opportunity to make
representations to the licensing authority about the
effect on the promotion of the licensing objectives of the
application.
Before making representations, you may wish to look at the
licensing policy
statement which sets out the council’s policy about
alcohol, public entertainment and late night refreshment
licensing.
The Council is mindful that the high number and density of
premises selling alcohol for consumption within the Ilford town
centre are causing problems of crime and nuisance disturbance.
Following guidance issued under the Act and after consultation with
the Police, other responsible
authorities, licensed businesses and local residents,
a cumulative
impact policy for the Ilford town centre was adopted by
Cabinet committee on 16th February 2010. The
Licensing Authority has designated this area as the town centre
Cumulative Impact Zone in relation to premises licensed for the
sale or supply of alcohol.
