Running an event in Redbridge
The Council offers consent for a number of on-street activities
to take place in the Ilford town centre. Activities such as,
vehicles promoting public services to carol
singing.
Obtaining permission for these activities is coordinated by the
Licensing Service and a special street trading pitch is located in
the Town Centre opposite Harrison Gibson where they can take
place.
If you wish to carry out any of these on-street activities which
include:
- street trading
- exhibition space
- events
you will need to apply to the Council
for permission. You can apply to use this area to inform or
entertain the community. It cannot normally be used for any
activity aimed at generating income, other than charitable
collections. Certain trading activities coordinated through the
Town Centre Manager, such as continental markets, may be
permitted.
The Community Pitch will be let free of charge to:
- Registered charities
- Local Authority and Government Departments
- Performers and entertainers who either are not performing for
gain or who have written evidence that proceeds, in their entirety,
will be donated to charity
- Organisations devoted entirely to promoting the aims and
objectives of the Council, in which the Council has a formal
interest
A daily fee is payable by other persons or groups
interested in using this pitch.
How to apply for a licence
If you wish to apply for a permit you can

the Licensing Service for further information
For some events involving entertainment you may also need to
apply for a Temporary Event Notice or Premises Licence.

Advisory Group (SAG) if it falls into one of the following
categories:
- Outdoor temporary events that require a Premises Licence under
the Licensing Act 2003;
- Indoor temporary events that require a Premises Licence under
the Licensing Act 2003 where temporary infrastructure such as
staging, lighting rigs, barriers and PA systems will have to be
brought in specifically for the event;
- Events taking place on land owned and managed by Vision Trust
or public roads in Redbridge for which the Council or
Transport for London is the Highway Authority;
- Any other temporary event (including events that do not fall to
be licensed under the Licensing Act 2003) which the Chair in
consultation with other members of the SAG believes the SAG should
consider.
