Door supervisor licence
A door supervisor lcience is required if manned guarding
activities are undertaken in relation to licensed premises.
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is responsible for licensing
door supervisors and anyone working as or managing door supervisors
is required to hold an
SIA
licence.
Who is the service for?
You will need a licence if you are responsible for security,
protection, screening the suitability of people entering premises
or dealing with conflict in pubs, clubs and other licensed premises
open to the public. Anyone involved in door supervision,
whether under contract or employed in-house will need a licence and
must be registered with the
SIA
. This include
employees, managers, supervisors and directors of security
companies.
If you employ persons that are not registered you could
ultimately lose your licence. Also, if you directly employ or
manage door supervisors (ie: do not get them from an agency), then
you must be registered as well.
What do I need to do to qualify as a door supervisor?
To get an SIA licence, you must be over 18, pass an identity and
criminal record check and have the correct SIA approved
qualification.
