Displaying a licence
Under the Licensing Act 2003, there are several statutory
requirements that a licence holder must comply with in
relation to keeping and displaying a licence. Failure to
comply with these requirements is an offence for which you are
liable on conviction to a fine of up to £500.
How to display your licence?
The holder of the premises licence must ensure that the licence
or a certified copy of it is kept at the premises in the custody or
under the control of the holder of the licence or another nominated
person. The licence holder, or nominated person, must ensure
that the summary of the licence or a certified copy of that summary
are prominently displayed at the premises.
How to manage your licence?
You are required to:
- keep a certified copy of the licence at the licensed premises
at all times
- ensure that the licence is looked after by the licence holder,
or a responsible person nominated by the licence holder
- make sure that a nominated person is specified in a notice that
must be prominently displayed at the premises
- produce a licence or certified copy on the request of the
Police or an Authorised Officer
- display a certified copy, or summary, of the licence at the
premises at all times.
